Episode 132: December Energy Reading

So You Wanna Be a Witch Episode 132: December Energy Reading. Coffee cup on a table with 3 tarot cards and a planner.

Let’s talk about your desire for control.

We all desire agency and power in our lives, but sometimes our fear of the unknown and our compulsion for control keeps us attached to the less-than-ideal outcomes we are familiar with and keeps us fearful of turning to the possibility in the unknown.

Does that sound familiar?

This month, the cards are asking us to let go of the security blanket of our most precious fears, our most limiting beliefs. They are straight-up telling us to quit being a baby and stop the hemorrhage of self-pity and fear that might be getting us the attention we want, but isn’t moving us forward in our lives or in our businesses.

December is a reminder that, when we shift our perceptions, we start to take different actions.

December is about harnessing our emotion into (com)passionate leadership.

December is why I fucking love belief work and why it is a cornerstone of everything I practice and everything I teach.

Whether you want to be or not, as an entrepreneur, you are in a leadership role with great power. Let’s close out this year by taking responsibility for it.

Join us this week to reclaim your agency and step into your power, whatever the external circumstances you are standing in at the end of this year.

Show Notes:

1:49– Energy of the Month: King of Cups, reversed. Stop being a baby.

9:20– Action for the Month: King of Wands. Harness your passion.

14:35– Release Work for the Month: Five of Pentacles. Choose how you respond.

17:38– Outcome for the Month: Eight of Swords. You are not as stuck as you think.

Episode 131: Your Minimal Viable Business

Episode 131 So You Wanna Be a Witch: Your Minimal Viable Business. A white coffee mug on a white table.

What is the best that your worst self is capable of?

We build our businesses out of our dreams, which often center us being our best selves—and they should! We want to grow and create our best lives and build businesses to support that.

But one of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs making is failing to take into account who we are when we are at our worst.

I believe in personal agency, but I also know we can’t control our external circumstances! When shit hits the fan, when we get sick, when we get overwhelmed, when our world turns upside down, what are our limits? What are our coping mechanisms? What do we need?

So this week, I want to take the concept of the Minimal Viable Product and extend it into a full business model. I want us to look really hard at what “good enough” means and how we can prepare for it. I want us to be honest with ourselves so that we can be honest with our customers.

We can’t know everything that will happen, but we can know our tendencies and create systems that support them.

Join us this week to face our perfectionism head-on and learn how to do a better job of taking care of ourselves AND our customers, no matter what we’re going through.

Show Notes:

0:15– What does “minimally viable” mean?

6:24– Who are you when shit sucks?

11:29– What are your baseline operations?

15:40– Selling through a shitshow.

Episode 129: Building Better Teams Through Human Design with Erin Claire Jones

Episode 129 So You Wanna Be a Witch: Building Better Teams Through Human Design with Erin Claire Jones. Erin lying on her bed and staring into the camera.

How do you tell the difference between a great candidate and a great fit for your team?

It isn’t just the skills that matter, it’s the chemistry.

As a hiring business owner, you could have a pile of stellar resumes with friendly faces to choose from, but the part that you are responsible for reading is: Who will I work best with? Who will fit with the team I already have established? Who will fit into the culture I want to create while also bringing in the pieces that are currently missing?

This can feel like a lot of pressure! So, I was super excited to talk to Erin Claire Jones this week. Erin has used Human Design to help thousands of individuals and companies step into their work and their lives as their truest selves and access their highest potential.

Human Design is pretty new to me, but everyone is talking about it. Based on time, date, and place of birth, Human Design pulls from many different systems to give us a blueprint of how we are best able to thrive.

In this episode, Erin breaks down what Human Design is, how we can use it to better understand ourselves, and how to use that understanding to recognize the people who will best fit into our business.

Join us this week to hear Erin pick me apart and put all my strengths and shadows on display for y’all! And tune in to learn more about how you can use this system to strengthen your relationships and your business.

Show Notes:

1:57– What is Human Design and how did this become your work?

12:25– Using Human Design in a team.

Episode 128: November Energy Reading

Episode 128 So You Wanna Be a Witch. November Energy Reading. Tarot for business. Sarah's hands before a spread out tarot deck.

We’re entering November with our bullshit meter turned all the way up. We have moved through the foggy veils of October, putting one foot in front of the other, and now it’s time for decisive action and trust in our own competency.

November is asking us to be 100% That Bitch, which really just means asking ourselves:

What do I need? Where am I censoring myself? What are the limits of my responsibility?

Those questions sound simple, but the work isn’t easy. When we fear causing hurt by or being disliked for clear communication, it is hard to be honest with our answers. We live in a culture that tells us that we are responsible for how others feel, and tells us that customers and profit are more important than our own boundaries.

We know what this looks like in bigger corporate settings but, even though we may decry those practices in our holistically-oriented community, it doesn’t stop that insidious messaging from creeping into the way we do business. You may not exploit your workers, but are you exploiting yourself?

What if, this month, we stopped playing The Game?

Join us this week to get a feel for the month ahead and start orienting yourself toward Justice.

Show notes:

1:11– Energy of the Month: Queen of Swords. Big Bitch Energy.

10:09– Action of the Month: Justice. Small spheres ripple.

18:28– Release of the Month: The Lovers. Stop selling vulnerability.

27:24– Outcome of the Month: The Devil, reversed. Healing is The Pause.

Episode 126: Choose Your Own Adventure

Episode 126 So You Wanna Be a Witch: Choose Your Own Adventure. Sarah's legs wearing black jeans and doc martens walking on a white floor.

Can we take our business seriously and still be playful with it? What does exploration look like when we are seeking to build stability?

As I completely upgrade the Holistic Business Academy’s core content, I am reflecting deeply on the foundational understandings of business that drive me and my methodology. I keep coming back to this:

There is no One Right Way.

Capitalism tells us that our revenue is more important than our joy. My holistic business model tells us that well-being is complex and individualized, and THAT is what I am all about.

Ultimately, my business methodology is Choose Your Own Adventure, and that is what I teach in the Holistic Business Academy: critical thinking, intuition building, and timeless strategy. So, as I work to upgrade HBA’s content to be even more clear and more supportive, I want to spend an episode exploring this foundational idea of choice.

In this episode, I walk us through the benefits and limiting factors of four distinct business models. I talk about why critical thinking and self-trust are just as important as strategy. I show you how to build a business model that allows for flexibility as you come to better understand your needs.

Join me this week to seek adventure, and stay to celebrate my birthday with a magical offer!

Show Notes:

Episode 124: October Energy Reading

Episode 124 So You Wanna Be a Witch. October Energy Reading. Sarah's hands shuffling a deck of tarot cards in front of a spread.

Welcome to October! The month of Samhain when the veil thins, the days grow shorter, and we are ushered into the dark half of the year.

This month, the cards are calling us into this between space. It’s another month of all-reversals, which brings our attention to the work we have done and the work we are resisting. Whether we have completed a project, or have washed our hands of a situation that doesn’t serve us, we have finished with something, but we are still waiting for the path ahead to be clear.

How do you handle the liminal space? Do you rush through it? Do you look around and copy what everyone else is doing? Or do you accept it, sit in it, and let it show you who you are becoming?

Tune in this week for our cards guidance through the veil and for some classic Sarah fantasy/sci-fi nerdom!

Show Notes:

1:06– Energy of the Month: Moon reversed. The in-between.

11:34– Action of the Month: Page of Pentacles reversed. Be curious.

18:55– Release Work of the Month: Emperor, reversed. Be Flexible.
